Like the layers of the earth revealed in a single cross-section. This shallow ceramic plate is hand-formed using the ancient Nerikomi (Jiaotai) technique — layers of differently colored clays are twisted and stacked, then shaped entirely by hand into a quiet, meditative piece with extraordinary surface movement.

The flowing wave-like striations in warm sand, taupe, and grey run through the full depth of the clay — not decoration, but structure. No two plates carry the same pattern. Every piece is its own original.

Handmade — What to Expect

• 🌀 Every texture is unique — the layered wave pattern forms naturally during the clay-twisting process and can never be replicated
• ✋ 100% hand-formed — no molds, no machines
• 📏 ~90% shape consistency — each plate shares the same general silhouette, but slight variations in rim, curve, and proportion are part of its handmade character, not imperfections
• ✅ Food-safe glaze; hand wash recommended to preserve finish

Use it for bread and butter, a single piece of fruit, or a moment of stillness at the table. Its calm tones work with almost anything — linen, wood, stone, or white.

Before ordering, please note the product you receive will not be the exact replica of what you see in the images, this is because how our products are made, it's near impossible to produce for example two cups with the exact same look.
